History

Kenilworth Baptist Church was founded in 1913. The Church was originally located on Bedford Ave and Glenwood Road. In 1938, the City of New York wanted to erect Midwood High School on the site where Kenilworth was. The Church moved to its present location in 1938. Kenilworth in its early years was an all white congregation. When the demographics of the community changed, the ethnic makeup of the Church began to change. Today the ethnic composition of Kenilworth is diverse. We have people from the West Indies, West Africa, Asia, South America, and the United States.
